Amanda Khoo
Assistant Dean of the College for Careers in Science & Engineering
Biography
Amanda S. Khoo, PhD serves as the Assistant Dean of the College for Careers in Science & Engineering. In this role, Amanda will build and maintain a comprehensive support program that helps students develop specialized knowledge about Sciences and Engineering career pathways. With her expertise, students will learn to engage in both structured and unstructured recruiting processes and build connections across Brown’s community of alumni, family, and employer partners. Amanda will also collaborate with faculty and administrators across campus to fortify the advising and programming resources available to students interested in these fields.
Amanda is a proud Brown alum. She received her Master’s in Data Science in 2021 and PhD in Biomedical Engineering in 2022. After graduation, Amanda transitioned from lab work in academia to computational sciences in industry. As a Senior Data Scientist in the biotechnology sector, she worked on multiple cross disciplinary teams, interfacing and collaborating with a variety of science and engineering careers. Here, she translated her research skills into tangible business practices and insights. She is also familiar with crossovers of science and engineering backgrounds into freelance consulting and education through her experience as a consultant in generating new STEM programs.
Amanda is excited to bring her experiences from industry and academia to the Center for Career Exploration. Her goal is to empower students to navigate the science and engineering job market through programming, student advising and collaboration with STEM groups across campus.
