Biography

Jocelyn joined Brown as the Associate Director of Brown in Washington in August of 2023. In this role, she is responsible for strategic planning and cultivation of the program, which provides students with an engaging study away experience with an experiential learning component in our nation’s capital. Jocelyn's commitment to working with young people on their personal and professional goals has been a consistent theme during her career. After obtaining her PhD at the University of Michigan, she previously held two faculty positions in the state of Texas and managed the youth programming at a DC-based nonprofit that focuses on women's leadership development in various international contexts.

An avid reader, researcher, and writer, Jocelyn's interests outside of student success include storytelling, transnational feminist theory, and intercultural contact. She published much of her research as Transforming Family with the University of Nebraska Press in 2022 and partners with Inside Higher Ed regularly on a professional development series for PhD students in the Humanities.
