Shannon Boutin
Biography
In addition to serving as an academic advising dean, Shannon works closely with other departments on campus such as the Office of Financial Aid and Student Financial Services, to promote holistic and academic financial advising, outreach and support to Brown undergraduates with high demonstrated financial need.
Shannon comes to Brown with seven years of higher education experience, primarily in financial aid. She has also worked closely with study abroad, international student services, registrars, and admissions. Most recently, Shannon served as the Director of Graduate Financial Aid at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business. In one of her most interesting prior roles, she served as a Resident Assistant for Showa Boston Institute, a satellite campus for Showa Women’s University in Tokyo. Shannon holds a B.S. in psychology from Bridgewater State University and an M.Ed. in higher education from Suffolk University. In her free time, Shannon loves spending time outdoors with her dog Reuben. She is also an avid traveler and hiker. One of her goals is to hike all the National Parks in the United States.
