The Meiklejohn Leadership Committee is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Meiklejohn Program. They also help chart the program's broader direction and ensure a close connection between the program's underlying philosophy, Meik events, and training opportunities. Leadership works closely with the Associate Dean of the College for Class-Year Advising and The College, acting as the liaison between the Meiklejohn general body and University Hall.
Samantha (she/her) is a senior from Tampa, Florida concentrating in Sociology. In addition to being a Meiklejohn Leader, Samantha is the President of Brown Lecture Board, a community based learning fellow in the Public Health department, and a member of campus affinity groups. In her free time, she loves to cook, bake, and watch Brown sports games.
Davíd is a senior concentrating in Ethnic Studies and International and Public Affairs. He is very passionate about addressing the health inequities in low-income, redlined neighborhoods. In addition to being a Meik, Davíd is part of Natives@ Brown, SOMOS Latine Literary Magazine, and the Brown Dream Team. In his free time, Davíd loves thrifting, reading, getting matcha, and playing with his two cats. He is extremely excited to be a Meiklejohn Leader this year and to support the students he advises.
Nozomi (she/her) is a junior from Tokyo, Japan studying Economics and International and Public Affairs. On campus, Nozomi is involved in the Brown Consulting Club, Brown Women’s Collective, and the Japanese Cultural Association. Nozomi is dedicated to supporting incoming students by helping them find a sense of belonging, just as her own mentors did for her.
Mimi (she/her) is a junior from Seattle, Washington studying Computational Biology. Mimi loves to be a genomic epidemiology research assistant and a teaching assistant for introductory biology courses. She is also passionate about teaching and learning ASL. In her free time, she likes to try out new coffee shops.
Shayla (she/her) is a senior from Las Vegas, New Mexico studying Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Shayla loves the Sheridan Center, organic chemistry tutoring, and volunteering at the Rhode Island Free Clinic. She is excited to make connections with incoming students and listen to how their unique stories can inform and support their futures.
Samyak (he/him) is a sophomore from Singapore studying Computer Science-Economics. Samyak represents the Brown Sexual Health Awareness Group (SHAG), and is a member of the Brown University Merlions. As a Meiklejohn Leader, he is excited to work with first-years to help ease their transition to Brown.
Tuyetanh (she/her) is a senior from Salt Lake City, Utah studying Chemical Biology with a certificate in Data Fluency. On campus, Tuyetanh is involved in the cooking club, Vietnamese Student Association, and snail mail. During her free time, Tuyetanh loves to explore Providence! She is dedicated to helping students find their place at Brown regardless of their background.
Avery (she/her) is a senior from Los Angeles, CA concentrating in The History of Art and Architecture with a certificate in Data Fluency. In addition to peer advising, she is a volunteer for Brown Market Shares and a part of Mixed Asian/Pacific Islander Students' Heritage Club (MASH). As a Meiklejohn Leader, Avery is passionate and dedicated to focusing on holistic advising and supporting students’ mental wellbeing.
Brianna (she/her) is a senior from South Orange, New Jersey studying Neuroscience and Public Health. She is a teaching assistant for NEUR 0010 The Brain: An Introduction to Neuroscience, Peer Career Advisor (PCA) Lead with the Center for Career Exploration, and a member of the Christian Union. Brianna is excited to support incoming students by sharing information that she wishes she would have known earlier in her academic journey.
Carlos (he/him) is a junior from Miami, Florida studying Business Economics with a certificate in Data Fluency. He is a member of the Scholars of Finance and Latinx Student Union on campus. Carlos hopes to support students as they navigate the open curriculum by helping ensure that students remain at the center of their academic journey.
Marcelo (he/him) is a senior from Lima, Peru studying Business Economics and International and Public Affairs. He is a part of two fellowships, the Bonner Community Fellowship and the Social Innovation Fellowship, wherein he channels a passion for community service and innovative transformation. As an international student, Marcelo hopes to give back, and help make Brown feel like home for new students.
Camila (she/her) is a junior from Miami, Florida studying Computational Neuroscience. On campus, she is involved in the Brown Daily Herald, the PLME Senate, CuBA Club, and computational neuroscience research. Camila is excited to help support incoming students as they gain momentum and learn new things about Brown and themselves.
