Academic coaching is available to all Brown undergraduates, and our team approaches it through a global lens. We recognize that multilingual and multicultural students bring experiences from diverse educational systems and learning contexts, and that strategies effective in one environment may need to be adapted to succeed at Brown. Coaching provides a space to reflect on your learning style, strengthen academic skills, and develop practices that support both well-being and long-term academic growth.
Our coaching program is part of AcCESs (Academic Coaching, Engagement & Support) @ Brown, a collaboration between the peer coaching program in the Division of Athletics and the Curricular Resource Center. International students may choose to be matched with the International Student Advising Staff Coach, as well as CRC and Athletics Peer Coaches.
In coaching sessions, students remain in the driver’s seat of their own growth. A typical conversation may include:
- Reflecting on what is effective and what could be refined in academic approaches and learning practices.
- Exploring options and strategies to strengthen learning, wellness, or performance in specific disciplines.
- Designing a concrete plan with goals, steps, and resources to carry forward, followed by opportunities to revisit and adjust in future sessions.
Coaching can take place in one-on-one appointments or small group meetings and students may engage at any point in their academic journey. Additional details and resources are available on our Google Site, accessible to current members of the Brown community.
